The Classics Department at UGA has genuinely adhered to it's motto of "Preparing you for what comes next" after the recent report by the Modern Language Association. UGA was listed as having the largest Latin Program in the nation.

Congratulations to Molly Stevens on the successful defense of her M.A. thesis on Wednesday, July 12, 2023.  The title of her thesis: Vintage 536: The Effect of the Late Antique Little Ice Age on the Viticulture of Southern Palestine.

Alicia Stallings graduated in 1990 from the University of Georgia with an A.B in Classics. She then graduated from the University of Oxford with an MSt in Latin Literature in 1991.

Congratulations to Jo Spellman, who defended their M.A. thesis on April 14, 2023. The title of Jo’s thesis is Battle Lines: Gender and Violence in Terence’s Hecyra. The department congratulates Jo for their excellent work!
