Sunday 8         Weekend: Sunday night at 8pm, Mandatory meeting for ALL students in

                         the Ercoli dining room—last minute details for our Campania Trip which leaves early the following morning.


M 8                  CAMPANIA EXCURSION: early morning departure from the Ercoli, 6:30 AM.

                        Chartered bus from Rome to Pompeii

                        Stop on the autostrada for a break en route; buy a food for a picnic lunch

                        Lunch at the Regia in Caserta (Bourbon Palace)

                        Overnight (with dinner) at the Hotel Villa dei Misteri, Pompeii


Tu 9                CAMPANIA EXCURSION:

                        AM: Pompeii, early morning to mid-afternoon.

                        Overnight at the Hotel Villa dei Misteri, Pompeii


W 10               CAMPANIA EXCURSION:

                        AM: Drive to Herculaneum

                        Lunch at Herculaneum at Pizzeria Terra d’Ercole

                        PM: Villas at Oplontis and Boscoreale.

                        Drive to Paestum, Greek colony and Roman city south of the Amalfi Coast.

                        Overnight (with dinner) at the Hotel Poseidonia Mare in Paestum


Th 11              CAMPANIA EXCURSION:

                        AM: Visit to the Vannullo mozzarella factory

                        Paestum, Museum

                        PM: Paestum, Archaeological Site

                        Overnight (with dinner) at the Hotel Poseidonia Mare in Paestum


F 12                 CAMPANIA EXCURSION:

                         AM: Early departure for Neaples

                        Visit to the National Archaeological Museum in Naples

                         Lunch at the Re Lazzarone Restaurant

                         PM: Return by bus to Rome; arrival in Rome by late afternoon)

Note: if you would like to spend the weekend on your own in the Bay of Naples area, you can decide to stay rather than return with us on the bus to Rome. This is the same as a weekend trip on your own, so you will be responsible for all arrangements, costs, travel risks, etc.

                                           Quattro Fontane, Piazza Sta. Susanna; San Andrea and San Carlino, Piazza Barberini; Palazzo Zuccari;

                                           Campo Marzio: Piazza Navona, Piazza Imperatore, Stadium of Domitian, San Ivo, and Piazza del Popolo


Saturday 27                      Make-up day: if we have fallen behind in our site visits, this day is reserved for finishing up our exploration

                                           of the city. Please do not make any travel arrangement.

Thursday July 2nd: Official departure from the Ercoli/end of program

             The departure time of the bus to the airport (FCO) is to be determined, but assume that it will be early (ca. 6:00am!) since

              most of the flights are trans-Atlantic and take off times tend to be well before noon.
